A l’origine TRICK OR TREAT était un tribute band de HELLOWEEN ; pas étonnant donc que ce premier album ait autant de ressemblances avec les citrouilles allemandes.
En premier lieu les rythmes sont rapides et légers, la double pédale s’en donne à cœur joie. Puis on est submergé par des mélodies ravageuses qui nous sont familières. L’ensemble est extrêmement joyeux, chaque titre reflétant une gaieté assez étonnante. Pas de prise de tête, pas de complications inutiles, les Italiens sont là pour jouer la musique qu’ils aiment et leur plaisir transpire sur cet album, au point qu’il devient assez communicatif. A l’image de la reprise de Cindy Lauper « Girls Just Wanna Have Fun », assez surprenante.
L’interprétation est impeccable et la production plutôt bonne même s’il manque un peu d’ampleur à l’ensemble.
Evil Needs Candy Too délivre un certain nombre de morceaux intéressants qui devraient séduire tout fan de speed mélodique. Son problème essentiel, on s’en doute, est le manque d’identité. La ressemblance avec HELLOWEEN étant un peu trop criante pour que l’on puisse accorder à ces transalpins l’intérêt auquel ils aspirent. Car, il faut bien l’avouer, TRICK OR TREAT, est un cran en dessous de son modèle. Et dès qu’un passage sort du lot, on ne tarde pas à réaliser qu’il est pompé sur un plan d’HELLOWEEN. A l’inverse, lorsque le groupe s’écarte de son modèle, la qualité retombe assez vite.
