Pour bien commencer l’année, rien de mieux qu’une petite démo d’électro indus bien de chez nous. TECHNY-CALL X est français, c’est sur, mais sa musique évoque tout sauf le terroir. Formé de quatre bidouilleurs, dont Doppler, ancien SETH, le groupe a choisi de parcourir les voies relativement hermétiques de l’électro indus version frenchie, territoire initialement défriché par des groupes comme TREPONEM PAL, ou SPINA un peu plus tard. Concept initial assez classique, l’opposition/complémentarité entre l’homme et la machine (remember FEAR FACTORY ??), servi sur un background synthétique mixant rythmes martiaux et gros riffs de guitares, TECHNY-CALL X fait aussitôt penser aux ténors du genre, FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY, SKINNY PUPPY et consorts.
Loin d’être désagréable, cette démo dont les deux défauts majeurs restent la timidité dont font preuve les membres par rapports aux postulats de compositions, trop révérencieuses et respectueuses des codes, et une vraie linéarité, dont on ne sait si elle fait partie du concept, ou si elle révèle un manque d’ambition.
A ce titre, et après une intro digne de IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, on plonge dans un univers clinique, ou des visions cybernétiques chevauchent d’anciennes images d’une civilisation humaine s’évanouissant dans l’univers sub-urbain. Je conseillerais à l’auditeur d’écouter cette démo en intégralité, de l’envisager comme un tout, et non comme plusieurs chapitres différents.
Pour conclure, je leur décerne les encouragements du jury, et j’attends l’album longue durée pour me forger une opinion plus définitive et pertinente.
