Là, ça ne va pas être facile…Je n’ai pas écouté un album, mais j’ai plutôt pris un bloc en pleine face… Au début, je me suis dit « Cool la chronique, c’est du DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN !!! », mais en fait, ça n’est pas si simple. Il est vrai qu’on s’attendait un peu à tout de la part de COMITY, frenchies spécialistes de la déstructuration bruitiste, mais là j’avoue… la claque !
Cet album est un monolithe, pourtant subtilement divisé en émotions bien tangibles, la haine, la colère, l’ennui, la tristesse…On pense à DILLINGER bien sur, mais aussi à NEUROSIS, CONVERGE ou CANDIRIA, voire même OPETH par moments, et pourtant, ça n’est rien de tout ça. Et tout en même temps. C’est COMITY tout simplement.
Ce Cd est foncièrement brutal, il faut l’avouer. Tout le monde ne peut pas l’écouter, c’est un fait. Il faut s’être au préalable échauffé les oreilles avec des sensations sonores similaires. Et quand bien même. Les guitares serpentent, la batterie s’affole, le chant vient d’outre tombe. Ce cd glace les sangs, mais rien à voir avec du Black cheap avide de symbolisme païen à deux sous. Non, là on a affaire à de vrais malades. Des musiciens qui recherchent l’effroi réel. Un peu comme un tableau qu’on voit de loin, qui semble effrayant, mais qui l’est plus encore si l’on observe bien les détails. On remarque là un rictus grimaçant qui met mal à l’aise. La une vieille femme dont les habits ne sont pas d’époque. Sous la table, une nuée de rats grouillants.
Il est difficile de décrire par des mots ce que représente vraiment cette musique. Qui n’en est pas vraiment. On pourrait dire en tombant dans la facilité qu’elle pourrait concrétiser ce que l’âme humaine a de plus noir. Mais non, pas complètement. Il y a de l’espoir là dessous. Presque de la joie. D’avoir découvert que l’on peut toujours aller plus loin que des structures de base mille fois employées auparavant.
…As Everything Is Tragedy. Quand j’y pense maintenant, je me dis que ce titre est vraiment tout sauf contemplatif. Je suis partagé entre le désir de tous vous contaminer avec l’urgence que représente l’écoute de ce disque, et la raison qui me pousse à vous prévenir qu’une fois dedans, il est dur d’en sortir.
Un peu comme quand on voit la mort en face pour la première fois. C’est tétanisant, choquant, traumatisant, mais c’est une étape nécessaire pour comprendre que la vie a une fin bien réelle. Ce disque aussi. Il faut le prendre comme une expérience indispensable, un besoin indicible.
Ca n’est pas une finalité en soi, juste une étape à franchir, pour se soigner d’un malaise ambiant. La musique est une thérapie. COMITY en est l’électrochoc. 600 joules direct dans le cœur. De quoi réveiller un mort…
