Après quatre albums studio (Dont le dernier en 2004, rEVOLVEr), et un live, les suédois de THE HAUNTED nous livrent leur dernière offrande, le bien nommé The Dead Eye.
D’accord. On peut dire ça. « Made Me Do It », comme référence absolue. Mais ça reviendrait à affirmer que sortis de Reign In Blood, SLAYER n’a rien fait. Tiens c’est marrant à quel point le nom de SLAYER peut revenir souvent lorsqu’on parle de THE HAUNTED. Ca doit agacer à force. Et pourtant…
Allez les gars, « The Shifter », c’est quand même pas du coté de DESTRUCTION que vous l’avez trouvé ???
Et même si on va plus loin, on reste bloqué sur du très bon GRIP INC… avec Lombardo.
Non, effaçons ces références trop faciles (ben justement !), et restons objectifs. rEVOLVEr, ça tuait quand même, des vieux relents de haine Bay-Area bien senties, derrière le masque Götebordien de la mélodie, ben oui, AT THE GATES quoi !
Mais là, pour le coup, il va falloir chercher ailleurs. Quoique cette nouvelle comparaison ne soit pas si stupide sur le titre d’ouverture « The Flood ». Le genre de truc qui va tuer en intro de la tournée, riffs Heavy, voix de pasteur enragé contre le péché, et bien sur la mélodie qui achève sur le chorus. Ils savent y faire les gars, du beau boulot.
Et puis comme pour dire « Salut Les Gonzesses ! », hop, « The Medication ». Elle est salée l’ordonnance, surtout pour le batteur, genre Alesi qui freine trop tard. Un bon gros coup de Thrash (le mot n’est pas trop vulgaire ?), SOILWORK sous acide EXODUS, la machine s’emballe, la corde de mi à la limite de l’overdose, et le pont bien MACHINE HEAD de rigueur.
Mais THE HAUNTED, c’est des roublards, des pirates a l’abordage de toute inattention, alors on chaloupe, on vire de bord, et voila « The Crowning », bande son d’un appareillage sans douleur. On ralentit un peu le pas, on minaude (« The Reflection »), et puis, hop, le coup de massue et le rythme trompe l’oreille de « The Prosecution » vous saute à la tronche.
Et jusqu’au bout, on alterne. Faut pas gâcher. Mais a coup sûre l’estampille « 100% pur HAUNTED » elle est là. Mais si écoutez bien, faites pas les innocents. C’est l’album que vous attendiez. Le genre qu’on achète les yeux fermés, un massacre qu’on dit. De toutes façons, vous le savez bien, pour faire du THE HAUNTED, il n’y a que…THE HAUNTED ! Et c’est pour ça qu’on les aime !
Un peu comme SLAYER quoi.
Tiens c’est marrant, vous avez remarque à quel point le nom de SLAYER revient souvent…
