Il faut remonter en l’an 2000 pour trouver trace de l’existence d’UNHOLY MATRIMONY. Derrière ce groupe ou plutôt cette entité se cache un seul être, Vladimir. Comme pour beaucoup de formations du genre évoluant dans les abysses de l’underground, Vlad l’Empaleur compose l’intégralité des morceaux, joue les lignes de guitare et de basse, chante et programme personnellement les percussions et les claviers ! Plutôt complet le bonhomme.
A partir de 2002, celui-ci se lance dans l’élaboration de plusieurs morceaux qui aboutiront sur son premier album intitulé Love & Death. Un an après, c’est au tour de Misologie de voir la lumière du jour !
Optant pour un Black riche et diversifié, les huit morceaux se veulent à la fois véloces et condensés, comprenant même certains passages pouvant s’apparenter à des mouvements de Musique Classique.
Par ailleurs, de multiples breaks présents dans les différents fragments font mieux ressurgir les riffs et idées conducteurs des morceaux. Il se dégage en plus de ces compositions un quelque chose de nostalgique, une sorte de tristesse palpable grâce notamment à l’utilisation de riffs puissants et graves à la fois. Le travail des guitares est d’ailleurs à louer, les riffs étant bien trouvés !
Le petit hic de l’opus car il y en a malheureusement un réside dans ce son de batterie programmé, proportionnant un martèlement trop « bruitiste » mis en avant qui confère un aspect trop mécanique aux titres.
Mais il n’en demeure pas moins qu’il s’agit là d’un bon album qui gagnerait peut-être à employer une section rythmique qui fasse moins dans l’automate !
