Formation germanique de Black Metal reconnue, Iblis et ses sbires ne savent guère ce que c’est que de faire des pauses entre leurs albums puisqu’ils comptent dans leur discographie pas moins de quatre albums en l’espace de…quatre ans ! L’heure n’est donc pas au repos et ENDSTILLE revient en grande forme avec son Black Metal aigu, acide et percutant à souhait et ne cesse de confirmer son talent.
Se disant pratiquant d’un « Nordic Black Metal », ENDSTILLE se rapproche plus d’un MARDUK que d’un MAYHEM ou de SATYRICON. Imagerie guerrière mise en avant (la front cover de l’album est assez rebutante), propos délibérément axés sur la Seconde Guerre Mondiale avec un livret contenant des photos illustrant cette période glauque de l’Histoire, les quatre affreux s’appuient donc sur ces évènements pour décharger leur Black Metal glacial et austère, alternant longs morceaux tels que « Bastard », « Let There Be Heaven », « Disillusioned Victory » et des titres plus courts et agressifs comme « Navigator » ou « Above The Vault Of Heaven ». Quant à « Endstille (Leichnam) », ce morceau quasi instrumental clôt l’album de manière magistrale !
Le mid-tempo étant le rythme le plus souvent usité par ENDSTILLE, ceux-ci savent également hausser et durcir le ton et les tempos. Grâce à une production énorme qui, avouons-le, fait souvent défaut dans les groupes de Black Metal, le son qui ressort de ce « Navigator » reste puissant et clair à la fois, en dépit du fait que la grosse caisse ait été mixé un ton en dessous.
Une quatrième livraison qui pourrait laisser présager une carrière un peu plus lumineuse et moins immergé dans le royaume des Ténèbres de l’underground !
